Dillard "grounds" War Eagles 8-1

by Carey Meitzler

Junior righthander Paul Dillard worked a complete game

to propel PRC to an 8-1 win at Wayne County.  The win

improved his record to 8-1 in his second complete game

on consecutive Fridays after returning from a late season

injury.

Dillard forced 13 ground balls in the game with 3 of them

turning into double plays (1st inning, 3rd inning, 5th inning).

Dillard allowed 5 hits, recorded 4 strikeouts, and walked only

one batter.  Wayne County (25-12 scored their run in the

bottom of the 7th inning.

Josh Lee doubled with one out in the first and scored

on Heath Graham's single for a 1-0 lead.  After Graham

was picked off first, Mike Lehmann launched a solo homer

to left centerfield, his 7th of the year, for a 2-0 lead.

PRC struck again in the 3rd inning when Josh Lee singled

home two runs for a 4-0 lead.  Courtesy runner Adam

Herrin (running for Lee) scored on a wild pitch to push

the lead to 5-0.

PRC got two runs in the 5th inning on Derek Penton's

two run homerun, his first of the season. Dillard followed

with a single and gave way to courtesy runner

Brant Graham who would eventually score on a wild pitch.

PRC (18-9) advances to play D'Iberville next week with Game 1

at D'Iberville on Friday. Game 2 will be in Carriere on

Saturday.
